...but today NOAA abruptly shifted shifted the Hake review meeting to be online only. It's already booked and paid for, hotels booked, 30-40 people travelling to attend, and industry members now out of pocket. During covid, the online meetings were vastly less effective for international diplomacy.

Next week, I am meant to be reviewing the Pacific hake assessment. This is the largest fishery on the US West Coast, catching hundreds of thousands of tons of fish, providing $295 million in income and providing 4324 jobs (in 2022). But... 1/n
