Yesterday was Villa’s 7th game in 3 weeks. We’ve got a good squad and should’ve played better but fair to say we looked cooked. And understandably so.

Well that was rubbish. You can agree with Unai that the club is well ahead of schedule while also acknowledging that today was a disaster. Certain we’ll have more occasions like today as long as he’s manager. And we won’t play that badly in one again. 2 SFs in 2 seasons. Here comes the comeback.

Just went for a big run to burn off some of the energy from last night. Every time my brain goes towards disappointment, I just get this incredible physical memory of how it felt to be in the ground last night. Never felt anything quite like it. Genuinely think I’ll remember it forever. Up the Villa

So I’m an idiot. Not only had I attended an FA Cup game, I’ve spent a lot of time wearing the special shirt I bought to mark the occasion. Role on Wembley!

Last night felt like watching a football team in a tumble dryer. In that context, Villa acquitted themselves well and PSG scored from their only ‘chance’ in the 92nd minute. They’re a level above and they should be with all of their advantages. Tie is still alive, next Tuesday will be unreal. UTV!

Season ticket holder who has been to each Champions League game. Had a ticket to each FA Cup game but gave it to someone else. Appreciate giving people the chance to go to games but ludicrous that I might not get a Wembley ticket.

A bit of a moan here. There are so many people leaving Villa games early now. I get it with night games, especially with kids and different jobs. It just seems really odd and sucks the atmosphere out of the stadium. Also distracting too. Game yesterday was so tight. Why wouldn’t you stick around?

Our home form under Emery is something else. Bar a couple of small wobbles of 2-3 games, we just don’t lose at Villa Park any more. Haven’t seen the like in my time as a Villa fan. These are special times.

I thought Asensio showed what he can bring to the starting XI in the first half, then showed why he can’t start some games in the second. One of the best footballers we’ve ever had at VP. Put a shift in, too.

We were brilliant for half an hour. Fair play to Forest, dragged us into a scrap second half. Rode our luck, lost our composure at times. But got the job done. Kamara noticeably higher up the pitch when he came on. Not sure why and not sure it worked. Two huge wins though, all that matters.

Nobody on earth thought that would be our starting XI. Blimey.

Frustrating season in the PL for us. Inconsistent and that is almost entirely down to injuries. A clean bill of health is fantastic and the impact is clear for all to see. Optimistic today. Like many people have said, I think chasing suits this Villa team. Should be a lot of fun this evening.

Most littered FA Cup tie of all time?

So excited to watch the Villa today. So many options. Our squad is genuinely excellent. It’s really hard to pick our starting XI when everyone is fit. Marco Asensio plays for us!!! One game from Wembley. UP THE VILLA!!!

If you really want to speed up football, cut down the ridiculous amount of time spent on attacking set pieces. It’s dumb. So much waiting for people to take shots with a really low chance of actually going in.

Listening to @claretbluepod.bsky.social. I remember JJ making his debut. I think we lost 2-0 at home to West Brom, I remember thinking it was an ok performance and didn’t matter because we had nothing to play. Then we got promoted. Then we got Champions League. Now we’re in the last 8. Incredible.

I get that it was a school night, the tie was over and traffic/trains can be awful but it was a bit sad how many people left early last night. Full time should’ve been a big party. It was still great but I think this squad deserved a big send off from a full stadium. Minor gripe. Still chuffed.

PSG’s best player plays for the mighty Villa

I get that it’s a bit stinky but we’re in a pretty lovely situation here. Negative vibe a bit odd.

Can anyone on here explain Villa’s financial picture? Lots of money in over the past 12-18 months but there’s still a whiff of financial oblivion about some of the reporting! Figures today are eye-watering although obviously for last season.

If Chelsea win the Conference League, Liverpool win the League and a team who qualifies for UCL wins the FA Cup, how low can European qualification go?

Been an up and down season for us defensively but we’ve improved a lot on set pieces. Not sure if the stats back it up but it never really feels like we’ll concede from them. Impressive considering how much change there has been in our back line.

Felt like Villa did an incredible job of just stopping the possibility of a chance in that second half. Olsen did his work well but, even though I was nervous as hell, Brentford didn’t really have a sniff. I would’ve been howling for a pen on that Disasi tackle, though.

Looking at the bench last night - once you add Garcia, Malen, Barkley and Onana - some senior players are going to be missing out on match day squads when/if everyone is fit. We actually have incredible depth.

Villa fans weirdly mixed on him but I think a fully fit Onana, alongside Kamara, completely changes our midfield. Haven’t been able to have both of them at their best alongside each other. Would really solidify that midfield, especially away from home. Improves us massively away from home I think.

I remember thinking Coutinho might still be Coutinho after one half against Leeds. Marco Asensio might genuinely still be Marco Asensio. And we have Marcus Rashford. And Bouba coming back. And Pau. Too much for a Tuesday. Up The Villa!!!

Stood in a Leyton beer garden shaking and smiling to myself like a maniac. Incredible. What a night.

Enjoyed this. A couple of things. Debate around Onana is weird to me. I think he’s done pretty well when he’s played. So odd that some want to judge him on how he is when he’s injured. On Rashford, life must be so weird for him. So much coverage but think he’s started well for us. Encouraging stuff

Feel very lucky that I couldn’t watch tonight. I love that we’ve got players like Rashford & Asensio in. I hope it’s ambition. I’m worried it’s desperation. We can’t bank on UCL/FA Cup success. Reality is they could have nowt to play for in 3 weeks. Hope the club isn’t UCL or bust.

Serious teams don’t lose 4-1 at Palace. Injuries or not, that’s Villa’s 24-25. If we got Rashford and Asensio we need CL football, oh dear.

The thing Villa need to avoid is having Rashford and Asensio sitting around in April or May with nothing to play for. Obvious statement but we need to win games to keep season alive and justify the outlay. They’re good players, which should help with that!

Palace feels exactly like the kind of game we lose. Busy schedule, against a busy team and we’re stretched in a lot of places. Win tonight would be huge. Think we’ll see some rotation in the 3 behind Watkins, could see Malen starting. Would kill for Kamara tonight, or any other midfielder available.

Loving the sustainable ethos at Villa Park, recycling chants for new players from the ones who have left. Asensio actually fits the Coutinho one better.

Tough one for Maatsen last night, although thought he improved in the second half. Would love to see him and Torres get some minutes together. We’re not really getting any use out of him going forward, mainly because he’s not really getting the ball higher up the pitch.

Villa really don’t have to be much better to win this. Not sure it’s on the cards though. LOTS of options on the bench.

Would love to read something in the coming months on the reality of Villa’s financial situation. Lots of concerning noises coming out. You would assume these owners were smarter than to overreach but some clarity - though unlikely - would be great.

Not sure a lot games between teams in the same league is quite what they had in mind for the sexy new Champions League format
