⚒️ 🧪 A M8.8 earthquake just ruptured the subduction zone offshore Russia’s Kamchatka peninsula. This is one of the world’s truly huge earthquakes, and a triggered tsunami is currently traveling across the Pacific ocean. This same fault ruptured on July 20th in a M7.4, and last August in a M7.1.

As the winter part of the caving course, I took the participants to one of my favorite places in the #Tatra Mts: Miętusia Valley, to the Nad Dachem #cave, which means "Above the Roof"; the entrance is perched 70 m above the valley. Note how there is frighteningly little snow.

I discuss with my USA co-authors where to submit. They argue that in the US PNAS>Nat. Geos. while I am saying that on my side of the pond Nat. Geos. > PNAS. I cannot poll here, so add comments/share your experience. Topic is wide: glacial vs fluvial erosion; but data are from the Carpathians.
