and so i would say that for some (or many) this is actually a lot harder to sustain than "just draw the comic! just have fun!" you can get bogged down by discussions of Craft and Approach, but ultimately comics and stories can be anything. we've seen it. but who GETS to draw? who GETS to have fun?

there's advice for how to draw and there's advice for how to view yourself as a worker among workers. comics are an issue of labour rights— wage exploitation and seeing that we don't exploit others— healthcare, housing, the time and energy it takes to make comics and the toll it takes on your body.

Yes--a HUGE thanks to @cartoonist.coop for helping us!! Members volunteered their time and space to help move sites and store merch temporarily while exiting HW artists got their affairs sorted.

Still super proud of everyone involved in this! One thing not mentioned is that behind the scenes, the co-op was able to help move a lot of creators off HW hosting so their comics are protected in the long term- collective action WORKS.

Gonna spitfire some. - burnout is gonna happen, learning how to recover might be one of the strongest abilities in your arsenal. - learning the basics of art before breaking them is actually pretty solid advice. - even bad criticism can be helpful because learning what to ignore and why is a lesson
