Last year our team closed 1,087 constituent cases and returned $873,292 directly to constituents! Pat from Annapolis was having a difficult time with Social Security - and our team was able to step in and ensure she received the benefits her family has earned.

More special visitors to the Capitol this week: the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, including St. John’s here in #MD03. Together, we discussed innovative solutions around financial aid, as well as new projects at St. John’s.

President Trump not only gave a $75 billion blank check to ICE in the Big Ugly Law, he did so at the expense of Americans’ health care. This week, House Republicans rejected @amo.house.gov amendment, which I co-sponsored, to redirect these funds from ICE to restore Americans’ health care.

UPDATE: Thanks to YOUR advocacy and the hard work of local leaders, the permit for the proposed immigration detention facility in Elkridge has been revoked. The fight is not over yet – there’s still work to ensure other facilities don’t pop up in our communities.

Today, I joined my House Democratic colleagues in front of ICE headquarters to stand in solidarity with the tens of thousands of peaceful protestors across the country who are demanding an end to the weaponization of ICE in our communities.

Today, I once again voted against funding for ICE that didn’t include any real accountability or reform. I am deeply disappointed that Republicans’ dysfunction has combined DHS funding with this larger package. Please see below for my full statement.

Meet Carter! Last week, my team and I got to give four-year-old Carter from Pasadena his first-ever Capitol tour in between votes. He loved getting to watch everyone on the House Floor from the gallery and seeing the Statue of Freedom! We even heard he told Mom all about the tour when he got home.

Important update: 75% of House Democrats are supporting Articles of Impeachment against Secretary Noem. I was an original co-sponsor because under Secretary Noem, DHS and ICE have systemically violated the rights and privacy of Americans, terrorized our cities, and obstructed Congress.

On last week’s bipartisan House Armed Services Trip to our newest NATO allies – Sweden and Finland – I saw firsthand how crucial our partnership is in advancing our shared goal of defending the Arctic, supporting Ukraine, and standing firm against Putin.

With the removal of Greg Bovino from Minneapolis, it’s clear that even the Trump Administration realizes these cruel immigration enforcement tactics are deeply unpopular. Bovino’s removal is a step in the right direction – and evidence that our collective pressure on the Administration is working.

I just got off a call with Governor Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison, and many of my House Democratic colleagues. Here are my takeaways:

With the Trump Administration’s outright weaponization of ICE, Congress has a responsibility to act. I’ve joined my colleagues in demanding accountability and transparency – voting against ICE’s budget last week and cosponsoring two new bills that would limit excessive use of force.

Today’s tragic news out of Minnesota is part of a tragic pattern. 2025 was the deadliest year for ICE in more than two decades – with over 30 people dying while in ICE custody, including former DACA recipients, asylum seekers, and many who lived and contributed to their communities for decades.

”I just wanted to be a soldier.”

Federal agents have once again shot and killed someone in Minnesota. This violence is a direct result of President Trump and Secretary Noem’s ICE sending under-trained agents into neighborhoods with guns and masks.

Some good news: After 100 of my colleagues and I urged Secretary Kennedy to reverse the sudden termination of over $2 billion in grants for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the Administration has reversed course.
