basically my previous position of "these tools can't actually produce useful work" went from "I think this is true" to "this is clearly not true any more"

this is depressing but i think i can go back to a pretty barebones vimrc at this point given how much the way i interact with code has changed over the last few months my TS library API design sensibilities have also changed because I no longer optimise for joy of autocomplete

I think people are erroneously interpreting the headline to mean that the Wikimedia Foundation is embracing AI for purposes like generating encyclopedia content, or are providing AI companies with more training data than they were already scraping.

I used to love computers back when they could barely do anything. Now that they can do things, all the things they're made to do are boring.

I've published a post on better prompting for LLMs: "Prompting 101: Show, don't tell" This is inspired by a similar post from an internal prompt engineering training series I wrote for Mercury:

it's also just an impossible task. no one actually knows if a "non-tainted" project uses ai or not! no one except the people who wrote the actual code knows if it was written with ai or not. does using an llm for research but not writing code count? etc etc etc

The feeling that I had all the time before LLMs: well, I could build this as a program, but I don't have time to make it good I still have that feeling now with LLMs
