Lrt Gumball is one of those shows that started off as yet another one of those generic SpongeBob clones (perhaps a decade late), and then randomly locked the fuck in from its second season & beyond to the point where I'm not even sure it still BELONGS in the "sponge-adjacent toons" category at all

Not sure how far I'd go with that last one but they kinda feel like distant cousins. I really like some of the SpongeBob-adjacent shows that aren't just annoying clones of the series. All paying slight homage to the show in their unique vibes

Dare I say even..... Star Sweepers genuinely feels like one of those rare indie toons that COULD be picked up by corporate w/o changing anything abt it. Like it alr looks so polished that I could genuinely see Xilam sweeping the rights to it, that's crazyy

The success story of tadc is what happens when you just allow something that you perceived to be nothing more than a silly concept tell its story and Exist, instead of mocking it into oblivion bc of things like content farms (which was outside of its control, and temporary in the long run)
