Would they be able to get away with all this if we didnt have to go to work? Do work, rent and bills only exist to produce profit, or is it just as importantly a function of social pacification, punishment and control? Is the economy just about money, or is it also about power?

these anecdotes do a good job of showing how pervasive & insidious AI has become. i’m lucky to be in the right stage of my career, & right front-facing niches of the industry, to be insulated from AI distruption so far, but i couldn’t have gotten to this point if AI existed when i was starting out.
