The former control tower at RAF Melton Mowbray. This was a rather rare & unique design of Tower in that it was an experimental design having 3 floors, thought to be the only one of its type in the country. It was sadly demolished in the 1970s

Between 1942 and 1945, Titchwell beach in Norfolk was used by the Royal Tank Regiment as a firing range. Hidden in the sand for decades are the remains of two Covenanter A13 Mark III / Cruiser Mark V tanks. Not a lot left of them today. #WW2

The pulpit King's Lynn Minster. The cross on the pillar behind the pulpit was presented by the King's Lynn branch of the Far East Prisoners of War on their 20th Anniversary of release from captivity. The cross commemorates Prisoners of War held in the Far East 1941-1945. #fepows #ww2 #warmemorial

Managed to pick up this #WW1 Peace mug today. Not only has it a WW1 connection, but also a local connection to #Meltonmowbray. Admiral Beatty who is depicted on the mug lived at Brooksby Hall and unveiled the WW1 war memorial in St Mary's Church. #militaryhistory #localhistory
