Old friend just laid off by USDA, 1 mos short of his probationary period as senior researcher. Brilliant person who left a tenured faculty position several yrs ago to join USDA. Bright early-career researchers also being laid off. USDA is terminating a generation of highly-qualified scientists.

Gutted. That's how I feel reading this. I spent 10+yrs making, at most, 1k/month for my degrees. These
#scientists
sacrificed far longer & are what makes U.S. innovation so successful. I grieve for them & the country. There is no reason other than wanting to play god and get the wealthy a tax cut.

Many people from the
#USDA
were terminated yesterday/today. A place where agricultural research is done to support agricultural production. Scientists, research assistants, custodians. This is unacceptable.
