I find takes like this (woman in the clip) so fascinating. The idea of a new world where existing skills don’t matter, only your knowledge of using AI. I understand the appeal. Software engineering is hard. As someone just getting started you are looking at years of study before you master it.

i find the LLM "capabilities" debate to be almost uniquely poisoned. people who claim that LLMs cannot do things that they verifiably can arguing with people claiming that LLMs can do things that they verifiably cannot.

Obviously, like everyone on Bluesky, I am deeply sceptical of AI. But the fact that you can teach it a proprietary programming language AND and them to build a color picker in one prompt is not entirely unimpressive.

One important difference is that the AI hype side is doing a lot more damage. Thinking that AI is useless is ultimately pretty harmless. It just means you will be a late adopter which is totally fine. Over hyping AI on the other hand is causing real damage to both companies and employees.

This is a great example of the current conversation about AI. Both sides are dug in and refusing to look at any evidence that does not support their world view. Both sides pointing out how irrational the other part is being, when the truth is more complicated.

There is a very simple rule when using LLM to write. Is it intended for you to read? Use an LLM (if you want) Is it intended for others to read? Don’t use an LLM.

We seem to constantly fall into the trap of thinking that successful people must be intelligent, other wise how could they be so successful? Instead, we should actually listen to what they are saying.

I am really curious about what kind of internal tool would have taken OpenAI engineers 12 man years to ship a beta of if they had written the code by hand 🤔

AI is better than a whole fleet of Claude bots, but It did one-shot a C compiler in less than 30 seconds.

I was about to write a post about why I am not a big fan of the new dialog element, but it sounded so negative so here is a short thread about how awesome anchor positioning is instead. Anchor positioning is is one of the best designed APIs I have seen in a long time.

I don't really understand what is happening in CSS land? I love that the CSS working group is so active and we are getting things like Anchor position, CSS Color Module 3 and animation-timelines. Things that are making CSS so much more powerful.❤️ But not all new features make as much sense to me

One of the worst things about AI is that the majority of information and opinions about it is absolute Bulls**t. I you have a basic understanding of LLMs it should be obvious that analytics is NOT a good use case. But there is not shortage of posts claiming just that.

From the comments on this thread it seems that most people have no idea what MCP actually is. MCP is an API specification similar to what
@openapis.org
is for REST APIs. The purpose is to allow AI Agents to interact with web services. Why did we need a new standard? I have no idea.

This is a question you should be asking yourself. To make
@nordcraft.com
work I had to create a new programming language optimised for visual development. For the new AI Agent we are shipping in 2.0 we had to create a new syntax for it. These we big tasks but necessary for the quality we wanted
