Just closed the main part of the #ICRN2026 Summit with awards for some wonderful ECR presentations. Thanks to Aaron Lauterbach (@aaronltbh.bsky.social), Matilde Tassinari (@matildetassinari.bsky.social), Zaya Da Silva, Marta Sih Wei Macaluso and Marmuro Sakura for sharing their exciting research!

Session 3 at #ICRN2026: how does contact unfold over time? One take-away: within-person effects remain hard to find. Might we need to clarify theory further first? That was also the topic of a fascinating unconference session. (1/3)

Keynote by Cara MacInnis provides some “reflexive reflections” on intergroup contact. She discusses the "limitations as well as the promise of intergroup contact as a comprehensive strategy for overcoming the challenges associated with diversity."

Session 1B at #ICRN2026: what can contact change beyond prejudice? One take-away: in work on engaging men to prevent violence against women, quality of contact matters more than quantity for getting them involved. (1/3)

Session 2B at #ICRN2026: what do contact valence and quality add to the story? One take-away: neutral contact may buffer the harmful effects of negative contact. (1/3)

Session 2A at #ICRN2026: how can new methods reveal where contact happens and how it can be designed? One take-away: while VR work on intergroup contact is very exciting, it is also difficult. Avatars' social identity is interpreted quite differently from that of human interaction partners. (1/3)

Session 1A at #ICRN2026: what predicts contact, and the willingness to seek it? One take-away: a sense of personal control isn't automatically good. It can amplify or mute how national pride shapes who we're willing to meet. (1/3)
