Hoardings finally down on 4 new council houses in our street. Planning permission granted in 2019(!), construction started in 2020(!!) & they were part of Lewisham council claim of 1,200 homes "delivered"in 2022(!!!). Families in temp accomodation for years because of failure to finish the job.

I see a lot of posts on BlueSky complaining about media coverage of the heatwave not being scary enough. On this issue, it's not like the media are misleading. Anyone south of Newcastle is experiencing the heatwave. They're perfectly capable of judging its impacts without the media.

progress report: The ZEV mandate is working for cars. BEV uptake is on track, it's pushing down on BEV prices (which is why car makers don't like it) and it's enabling investment in EV charging. Vans are taking longer but the transition is happening.

Also not mentioned: the number of pupils in all schools has fallen by 112k over the same period, so it feels like that is ‘pressure’ that the state sector can broadly manage (and in areas with badly falling school rolls, actively welcome).
