For all the creatives out there, wanted to share this quote I came across (in a George Carlin book, of all places). Definitely inspired me to keep doing what i'm doing.

New favorite decoration: Deep Space Nine ornament. Has little hooks on the upper pylons and docking ring for ships. The quality and creativity of the 90s - early 2000s ornaments blows me away. Feels like they’d never make this kinda stuff today.

I'm curious what everyone thinks of this style where you ask the players to help build part of the story. I'm not sure it fits my style exactly but I can see how it could lead to immersive moments.

i wish i was into star wars. there's so much cool merch: sports teams, christmas sweaters, etc etc. it feels universally pervasive within society in a way that other mainstream nerdy franchises such as star trek and dnd aren't.

Sometimes all it takes is 1 person who believes in you and your work. The encouragement and fresh perspective can launch you in new directions you never dreamt were possible. So if you see something cool: a simple "I really think you have something here!" can make all the difference.

My cat goes to hide when my family starts cleaning up the house. he's learned that means guests are coming.

I did something similar! I came up with the wishlist myself based off character goals / interests and tied them to personal / plot goals. I also tied leveling up to completing a certain number of personal quests & completing the larger plot objectives.

What tools / tricks do you use to help encourage productivity? I've found paper lists on my desk & using the reminders app has helped.

Nothing happens in life unless you make it happen. There’s no guarantee it’ll succeed or go how you expect, but you won’t know until you try.

Agree– theming and flavor is a great way to take a bunch of unrelated encounters and make them feel like they all belong and were planned together. Makes prep a lot easier as you can generate any random events and then work in the theme.

Don’t just create your version of something already out there. Create something that only you could make.
