The question of why Trump’s open racism doesn’t hurt him more is a serious question which has an uncomfortable answer - as long as the racism is focused on immigrants it is seen as acceptable to way too many voters. However, it doesn’t help him - look at election results and polling.

The Trump Admin keeps doing this. It's clear they want singers to attack them for using their music because they feel this brings ICE attention, eyeballs, and new recruits. Luckily there is no evidence that it is working, and pushback like Carpenter's is proving effective against them.

It makes no political sense at this point for the billionaire class to keep investing in Trump. The only way to explain it is that people like Dell are motivated by a sincere belief in the Trump oligarchy.

Remember how Trump claimed his first term was attacked by China "dropping a virus" on the US? He seems to have gotten over it.

A likely explanation for Trump being so nice is that is what his Gulf state benefactors wanted. Zohran is probably more popular in those countries than they are (especially among the young). Trump being mean would cause problems for them and jeopardize their investment in him.
