AI's already pretty good at writing code. In my opinion, the dev work that'll matter most isn't using AI, it's building the harnesses that make AI tools actually useful for a specific situation. That's what separates devs of the future from the rest.

The engineers who'll thrive aren't the ones who write the most code. They're the ones who own what happens after the PR merges. Debugging prod, observing real behavior, knowing your cloud platform. AI can write code. Owning it end to end is still very much a human job (for now).

Saw a thoughtful thread about AI, don't want to QT or argue. But. The biggest rage factor with LLMs is the people who, because genAI is transformative for coding, think it's transformative for everything else, because they devalue every other form of work and labor and knowledge.
