Right folks, Aadil and I had a productive meeting today to set plans for Durham Free Fringe 2026, including venues and an earlier timetable for programming. Expect to share this with you in early January.

We're back. Still a long way to go for planning Durham Free Fringe 2026, but we're ready to start sharing news of our plans. Our new decision: we want Durham Free Fringe to be an artist-run event. For more about what this means, read here: chrisnevillesmith.info/wp/2025/11/2...

And that's a wrap. Four days and six shows later, Durham Free Fringe 2025 is done. Thank you to everyone who took part, came to shows, offered venues or supported us in any other way. We're going to have a big rest now, before planning Durham Free Fringe 2026.

So that's the end of @durhamfreefringe.bsky.social day 3 and our last day in our main space of Holy GrAle upstairs. We're not quite finished, a couple of days in smaller spaces still to go but after months of stress I can't believe how well this has worked.

Chris Neville-Smith @cns-theatre.bsky.social brings DOCTOR COPPELIUS to Durham Free Fringe. Coppelia is a mechanical doll, whose creator tried to bring her to life by stealing the life of an innocent man. Now the tragic villain from Delibes' ballet gives his side of the story.

Our next announced act: CAITRIONA DOWDEN: DANCE LIKE EVERYONE'S DANCING. Caitriona spends most of her time worrying about the future and studying our medieval past. Can she learn to live in the moment? A feel-good show about apocalyptic dread (and the 1518 dancing plague).
