Quite a bit of Tuesday's rain wasn't incorporated in this week's Drought Monitor update, since the cutoff is 8 a.m. Even so, we're still running a deficit. Dry conditions leading up to Tuesday meant things worsened to "severe" levels just west of Columbus compared to the previous week. #OHwx

Watch Gabrielle evolve from a lopsided tropical storm to a major hurricane in less than 48 hours. Circle extends about 600 km from the storm center. Intensity values are interpolated to hourly resolution to match the infrared images, rounded to 5-kt increments in line with NHC precision.

This is the trend of rainfall for this week from the NBM model, using the mid-morning run going back to this past Monday. Interesting to see the average skyrocket from a paltry amount to a good soaker of a week. Only 0.87" since August 1, driest 8/1–9/20 period on record. #Columbus #OHwx
