A community update regarding Festival for Falastin: Hello all! It has been many months since our beautiful Festival for Falastin event. It was a huge success, but we had some troubles getting donations to one of our contacts, and wanted to update our community on the outcome.

Wow-- what a beautiful evening of music and community. Together we raised $800 for Sara Kashawi's legal funds, to aid in her fight for freedom of speech. A huge thank you to @davidrovics.bsky.social and @hawa.levantgarde for the beautiful musical journey.

It’s clear - the @davidebybc.bsky.social is an active participant in the normalization of genocide. The @bcndpcaucus.bsky.social consistently refuses to ban Israeli wine.

VIU has once again violated its students' right to free speech by suspending those who peacefully protested against the genocide in Palestine and racism on campus.

In a world often dominated by top-down and power imbalances, consensus decision-making offers a refreshing and empowering alternative. It’s not just a method for making decisions—it’s a way of building the kind of world we want to live in, one rooted in collaboration, equity, and mutual respect.

None of us are free until Palestine is free.

We will continue to organize around this issue, this is just the beginning of our work. Dismantling an apartheid regime takes sustained effort, and we will continue to educate and implement BDS campaigns within our community to do our part in making that happen.

We are closely tracking Israel’s actions, knowing that they cannot be trusted. This situation is tenuous, and it will only be upheld if the international community applies strong pressure and scrutiny to Israel.

Ceasefire is the bare minimum. While this is a moment of celebration, it is not a moment to take our eyes off the situation in Palestine. People are still being killed in Gaza, and settler violence is still the norm in the West Bank.

Palestinian resistance remains intact, the fight for liberation is alive. They have fought for 77 years to be free to live on their land and this ceasefire was a necessary step towards liberation.

The ceasefire in Gaza has begun. Palestinians are returning to their homes or the places their homes once were, prisoners are being released, and the IOF is slowly leaving Gaza. The relief that Gazans and all Palestinians feel is palpable, their joy a reflection of their resilience.
