Really bad fright this morning. Accidentally stepped on kitten while loading dishwasher. Yowled louder than ever before and ran off and hid for over an hour. Terribly afraid I had injured her badly. In tears. The ugly cry. She is fine.

A brief thread about expectations. I run old-school D&D in my after-school program, full sandbox, player driven, factionalized and patron play based. We don’t do backstories at all, your class and PC race are your backstory. We don’t use any 5e products, books or adventures. Art by Ken Kelly

As we face economic hardship, remember: RPGs are your best entertainment value. Once you’ve got rules, dice & your favorite accessories, you can play as often as you like for the rest of your life without paying another dime. The RPG *industry* may not want folks to understand that, but it’s true.

On my bsky notifications, when I see a reply to one of my comments how can I see the original comment they're replying to? I swear I've clicked on everything and nothing does it.

In my 2e game the only spells magic-users got for 'free' was when they started their character. Every other spell had to be found in the world or copied from another character. I found that when 2 players had the same spell, they used them in different ways. It was great to see their creativity.

One big thing about fibromyalgia is that when I wake up in the morning I don't feel refreshed at all. I feel absolutely exhausted. Like when I did 12 hours of hard physical labor in my 20s. It takes 2-3 hrs every morning just to recover from sleeping.

In my 2e game I changed Wisdom to Education, because I felt part of roleplaying your character was using your own wisdom to make decisions.

In my 2e game I decided the main 'game' purpose of a bard was knowing stories about magical items, not 'buffing' the group in combat.

In my 2e game I had clerics carry around spellbooks. They didn't 'memorize' out of them, but they had to have them to study. I did this because in the middle ages in Europe the clergy was all about books, in many ways.

Before we can move in to our new apartment, they want Amy's vaccines up to date, and that's another $100 on top of our move-in costs. If you can help at all, my kofi is

We finally got accepted at a new apartment, so we have a place to live now. Only thing is, the move-in costs are just over $1600, and we have the usual bills, etc. If you want to help, here is my ko-fi. Thanks everybody.

My biggest problem with bsky is that when someone replies to something, it is very difficult to find what they were replying to. It should be easy and intuitive.

It costs you nothing for you to share this. For every $1 you donate to your local food pantry you'll be providing 12 pounds of food — the equivalent of 10 meals — to families in need this holiday season.
