The primary advantage compared to the older charts is that these NP factions don't make illegal moves.

For a change of pace I now have a different kind of game on my table. Legend of Yu. A solo campaign game of building canals on the Yellow river in ancient Imperial China. Fight off Barbarians and stay ahead of the flood. This is game 1.

Wrapped up France 1944 DSE. I made many mistakes on both sides. March 1945, Allies got to move last and the Airborne units dropped onto an undefended area behind the Rhine and took the last beach head hex needed to win the scenario. Cologne and Dusseldorf fell.

Another title on my solo table. France 1944 DSE. End of November 1944. I'm playing scenario 3: West Wall. The Allies need 8 bridgeheads over the Rhine to win. Progress has been slow but Germany has lost many units. And the southern units have been cut off. The front could collapse at any moment.

On my table. Lanzerath Ridge from DVG. Solitaire game on the opening attacks by German Paratroopers in the Battle of the Bulge and the heroics of a reconnaissance and artillery observation platoon to deny an important road network to the German tanks.

Salerno '43. Turn 22. Sept 30. Utter collapse of the German front. 7 Arm pierced the final line and broke into the N1 entry area to Naples. While Germany held Avellino 82nd Abn and 45th Div attacked and surrounded elements of 26 PZ. Allies scored 25 VP for the win. @gmtgames.bsky.social THE END

Salerno '43. Turn 21. Sept 29. 82nd Abn punches through a week spot in the river line. Overruns 26 PZ artillery! 3 Div pushes back 15 PG to Avellino. 45/56 Div surround armor SW of Avellino. 34 Div assaults city. 7 Arm held back. It's basically over. The eliminated ASU puts the Allies at 20 VP.

Salerno '43. Turn 20. Sept 28. 82nd reaches road to Benevento. 26 PZ and 29 PG fall back further to cover the Sobato River and Avellino. 15 PG shifts to cover the southern roads. 7 Arm breaks through and takes Sarno! 34 Div causing disarray for HG. Sitting at 19 VP with two turns to go.

Salerno '43. Turn 19. Sept 27. Axis regroup HG Div anchors Sarno River line on the west. 16 PZ in Sarno. Supported by 3 PG. US 34 Div moves up to attack HG. 7 Arm trades losses with 16 PZ. 56 Div can't breach 15 PG lines. 46 continues pushing North. 82nd hits hard and close to road to Benevento.

Salerno '43. Turn 18. Sept 26. First assault on Sarno by the 7 Arm. Defenders hold. 56 Div reorganize after disruption by 15 PG. 46 Div continues pushing North towards Avellino. 29 PG/26 PZ desperately trying to hold the river line against 3 US divisions. @gmtgames.bsky.social

Salerno '43. Turn 17. Sept 25. 1 FJ holds Castellamare di Stabia against 7 Arm hasty attack. 56 Div takes losses against FJ/15 PG on road to Avellino. Mountain Passes fall to 46 and 3 Div. 45 Div breaks through the road SE of Avellino, 26 PZ retreats. @gmtgames.bsky.social

Salerno '43. Turn 16. Sept 24. 1 FJ holds against 45 Div. 82 Abn pushes 26 PZ. Mountain passes held but take losses (29 PG) from assaults by 46 and 3 Div. Determined defense by FJ holds the road north to Naples but 7 Arm and 56 Div push back 16 PZ, the line is breached. 8 Army sector abandoned.

Salerno '43. Turn 15. Sept 23. HG Division counter attacks disrupting 7 Arm. 56 Div and 7 Arm fail to dislodge 16 PZ. 3 Div takes losses trying to force the narrow passage against 29 PG. 36/45/82 keep pushing back 1FJ and 26 PZ. Germans trying to fall back in order to cover the last line of defense.

Salerno '43. Turn 14. Sept 22. Most of 16 Pz withdraws. 34 Div starts landing at Salerno. 56 Div moves up to support 7 Arm. Gaggle of Allied formations hold Nocera (46/7/Com/Americans). Elements of 15 PG hold pass against 46 Div. The rain bogs down everyone. @gmtgames.bsky.social

Salerno '43. Turn 13. Sept 21. 26 PZ and 1FJ pushed back by 45th Div. HG breaks out Chiunzi Pass thanks to timely arrival of reinforcements. 29 PG falls back north preparing to cover the withdrawal of most of 16 Pz. 3 Div pushes to Acerno. 56 Div moves north to assist 7 Arm. 8th Army marches on.

Salerno '43. Turn 12. Sept 20. Germans abandon Eboli moving to avoid being out flanked by US army in the south. 8th Army is moving north and east. 7th Arm pressing 15 PG pushing them away from Salerno. Tanks caught by surprise and flee Nocera! HG Div trapped in the Chiunzi Pass!

Salerno '43. Turn 11. Sept 19. HG fails to take Maiori. 7 Arm harrying 15 PG near Salerno. 46th Div and Commandos take out paratroopers near Nocera threatening HG flank. 29 PG collapses unhinging southern line. 26 PZ, 1 FJ and elements of PZ in danger of being surrounded. 8th Army moves north.

Salerno '43. Turn 10. Sept 18. HG Div pressing Maiori. US 45th and 82nd bludgeon 29 PG. British 7 Arm pushes back elements of 15 PG. Wermacht may be leaving an orderly withdrawal to the North too late.

Salerno '43. Turn 9. Sept 17. Rain came pouring down, no supply got through for either side. Low availability of Artillery meant the line remained static. 7 Armored is pushing into the front line. Soon Germany will need to March north to avoid being out flanked.

Salerno '43. Turn 8. Sept 16. 16 PZ Div disrupts 46th Div. 29 Pz and 1 FJ paratroopers retake Eboli. US Forces counter attack and press 29 PG. In the North HG takes losses unable to take Maori.

Salerno '43. Turn 7. Sept 15. Germans attack with little to show for it. HG assaulted Maiori but took losses. 26 PZ with help from 16 PZ forced a city battle In Eboli. Allies counter and disrupt the Axis. 29 PG has to fall back and cover Altavilla and cover the Calore. 7 Armored makes a landing.

Salerno '43. Turn 6. Sept 14. German Counter attacks press the Allies. HG forces back the Rangers at Chiunzi Pass. Airborne and Armor rushed in to defend Maiori. 29 PG pushes back the 36th Div, but then blunted by 45th Div. Counter attack by paratroopers and 45th blow a hole in 29 PG. (1/2)

Salerno '43. Turn 5. Sept 13. More rain and no supply means few offensive actions. Left flank of 45th Div disrupted by the fully assembled 29 PG Div. German buildup is mostly complete. 82nd Airborne dropped in to reinforce 36th Division.

Salerno '43. Turn 4. September 12. Foul rain weather meant few attacks. The 29th PZ counter attacked 36th Div trading losses but blunting their advance. 56th Div assaulted Eboli setting up another city battle.

Salerno '43. Turn 3. Sept 11. Or the day the Panzers died. 56th Div and 36 Div made separate attacks against armored formations in the salient and obliterated many tanks. 16 PZ has lost all of its tank battalions and is reeling. 45th Div took Agropoli. 46th Div reinforces Salerno. 15 PG arrives.

Salerno '43. Turn 2. Sep 10. 16th PZ risked being surrounded and cut off so they pulled back at the confluence of Sele and Calore rivers. An attack by HG and KG Dor put pressure on Salerno. 46th Div reinforces the port. 56th Div took out a PZ Btn and captured Battipaglia. 29 PG arrives to dig in.

Turn 1. The beach landings were successful and Salerno was taken on the fly. 16 PZ Div attacked Red Beach giving the 36th Division a bloody nose. Lots of casualties inflicted. An attack by 56th Division resulted in a city battle at Battipaglia. The 16th is stretched. Help is on the way.
