The Gnome Book by Loes Riphagen is bound be a hit with the little ones (it certainly is with my kids). It depicts the lives of the little creatures with humour and fun unexpected details accompanied by wonderful illustrations that children will love to explore.

If you’ve ever found reading traditional fairy tales and legends to young kids (especially girls) a bit icky, these picture book retellings of the classic tales by Bethan Woollvin are the perfect alternative (at least until they’re old enough to read Angela Carter’s The Bloody Chamber 😉).

Our children’s bookshop intends to focus not just on new authors, publications and editions, but also on out of print, rare and secondhand children’s books. So many treasures have been unjustly forgotten or are no longer easily available in shops, and we hope to remedy this in our own small way.

These graphic novel adaptations of The Iliad and The Odyssey by Gareth Hinds are an excellent introduction to the Classics for young people. The dramatic and action-packed illustrations are an excellent way into these ancient stories.

A whimsical story with wonderful illustrations about a curious little girl who decides to climb to the top of a reindeer’s very long antlers. On her climb she meets various creatures who have made the antlers their home. I love it when you have no idea where the story is going.

Beautiful little edition of Christina Rossetti’s Goblin Market with illustrations by Georgie McAusland. A delightful treat of a book.

What an absolute feast for the eyes this book is. The Stuff That Stuff is Made Of: Things We Make With Plants by Jonathan Drori is stunningly illustrated by Raxenne Maniquiz and Jiatong Liu, and is a delight to learn with. We’ll bringing it to our pop-up, but I’ll also keep a copy for my kids 😉

Our first book highlight is this witty retelling of a true story from 1870s Idaho by Dave Eggers, with wonderful illustrations by the inimitable Júlia Sardá. A gem!

Hello, world! We are a new children’s bookshop which will open its doors in Edinburgh in 2026. Much work is going on behind the scenes to make it happen, but in the meantime we are doing a pop-up to introduce ourselves to our lovely city and its community.
