Is there a German word for the hope I feel when I get on social media after a longish break and check to see if anything major has happened in a positive direction?

As a Gen Xer, I can tell you boomers and even my own generation comparing their 20s to today’s 20-30 year-olds needs to stop. I paid $600 for a West Hollywood apartment at 23. Today it’s $3500. Burgers weren’t $20, they were $6 to $8 in a nice restaurant. Life is not comparable.

We adopted this beautiful girl yesterday after three years of sponsoring her at a sled dog kennel not far from us. She’s 11 1/2 and has finally retired to our couch. We could not be more happy to have her chillin’ out with us. She’s a sweet, smart, curious lady.

Justice cannot come fast enough. May we all be around to see it and celebrate it.

I bet now would be a great time to own/operate one of those places that allows you to smash plates and glasses. Sounds divinely cathartic.

I'm finishing this year having read/listened to 107 books. They were a mix of mystery, sci fi, and fantasy, with a dash of psychology. Mostly they were my best effort to get some respite from the shitshow we are currently living in. So, thanks authors for giving me a fun place to shove my brain.

Today, the Artist group I belong to had our holiday lunch & we exchanged artist trading cards (ATCs). I waited until the last minute, did a somewhat complicated design, & only got 4hrs of sleep. I finished making 15 white line block prints of a Spirograph design 5 minutes b/f walking out the door.🤦🏻‍♀️

Every time I see a post telling us we “should be” alarmed by something going on with the current dive into authoritarianism, I want to scream. I’m already fucking alarmed. By everything. So is everyone I know. Every day! Telling people how they “should” be feeling and acting isn’t productive. Sigh.

I cannot watch or listen to those chucklefucks give their opinions on what causes autism because like everything else they open their pieholes about, I'm 100% sure they are wrong. My 84-year-old autistic father agrees.

My daughter & I just finished season 4 of Farscape (her 1st/my nth), & the idea of being left with that as the potential end of the series is still fairly mindboggling after all this time. We'll be celebrating the hard-won end of the series later this week with pizza and margarita shooters!

In the process of rewatching Farscape with my daughter, I showed her the Save Farscape bonus content on a season 4 disk. I’m in it more than once & her first comment was: “You were so young!” 🤦🏻‍♀️ She also thought the video was very cool, so I guess that will have to make up for becoming an Ancient.

My daughter and I have been watching Farscape together the last few weeks. We're almost to the end of season 3. I was on maternity leave with her when the show hooked me but good. She loves it too, and I love that it's given us another thing in common. The show that keeps on giving!!

My good girl graduated from her level 2 manners class last night! She is a superstar!

I love this girl more every day. She’s about 4 1/2 months old now, house trained, comes running when I whistle to her, and waits patiently by the door for her big brother to come in when he’s pokey outside. We really lucked out with her. #harrowhark

I changed the nectar in my hummingbird feeder yesterday and this little friend has been by several times in just the last couple of hours! I love watching them hover.

This is my new furry kid, Harrow (yes, she is named after Harrowhark Nonagesimus!). She’s very small, skinny, wears mostly black with some white on her face, chest, and toes. She also likes bones. And she seems smart and snarky (ask my other dog, he’ll agree). We think it fits her.
