The other key vulnerability is that the US people have proven themselves to be feckless, and will simply bow to fascism. They'll only resist if armed thugs show up at their homes directly threatening them. So the fascist regime can move forward at full speed with impunity and near-zero pushback.

I teach about terrorism, and when talking about the US in the 1970s, I say more attacks came from the far left, because that’s what the data shows. For the US in the 2010s and 2020s, it’s predominantly from the far right. Because that’s what the data shows. Presenting it otherwise is distortion.
