Today I passed my private thesis defense and became Dr. Moya!! Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout this journey!! Next week is my public defense, and then I’m officially done in academia 🥲 it’s been a wild ride, but one I wouldn’t change for the world.

What if history just didn't repeat itself, for once?

My entire research career has been funded by diversity sups. From undergrad, to summer internships, to now having the F31 diversity. If I didn't benefit from diversity funding, there is NO WAY in HELL I would be getting my PhD in neuroscience in a few months. It simply would not have been possible.

How does one.. write a dissertation? I dreamed about this time in my life for YEARS and now that it's here, its surreal. I honestly didn't think I'd make it this far lol.
