Over the years, my neighbour planted lots of capers on the walls along the street close to her home. I love the smell and the promise of savory delicious dishes.

With this heat, my writing hours have changed completely. I start much earlier than 9 am which is when I usually sit at my desk. Ah, and my desk has moved too. At least until there's some shade 😅 #writelife #writingcommunity

Last week I realised I had over-edited my novel, making huge changes to some chapters that led to lots of frustration because I didn't feel like my novel was the same again. I got stuck. Frustrated. There were lots of tears. But there's a happy ending...

Last week I found out through another writer's post that a story I submitted to a contest was rejected. I never received an email from the organisation. While not making it is part of a writer's life, I think it would be respectful to send an email before publishing longlists or shortlists.

As someone who is juggling lots of work projects to be able to write, I find this advice very sensible. I remember @mslexia.bsky.social posted an article on portfolio careers a while ago. That's my solution in a country where grants for writers do not exist.

Ah, this is so funny! I'd say it's fairly accurate, at least for southern Europe and Scandinavia and Dutch/German speakers. Also Poles. As for the French, my experience is that anything that avoids speaking in English is very appreciated so perhaps they should be green too.

Just finished editing for the day. Draft 3 of my current WIP is hard work. Many scenes in the novel require proper rewriting. It's tiring but also exciting. Without the panic of the first draft.
