For some reason I just thought about the Mass Effect 3 ending crapshoot. The amount of folks irritated at that junk ending and the endless pundits bending over backwards to defend that horrible trash on the grounds of "artistic integrity". A lot of those people really were dupes.

Folks who advocate for 90-minute runtimes are not serious people. It reduces a film to content you consume before you doctor's appointment or something. "Films really shouldn't be more than 90 minutes" *proceeds to binge watch 4 hours of a show*

So it has been long enough and I thought I'd do a silliness. I searched "James Gunn Superman Objectivist" and "Zack Snyder Superman Objectivist" and the start contrast is really staggering. Many six digit (100k+) views slamming Man of Steel, the usually regurgitated trite of failed media literacy.

I can think of one thing... Putting in the disc and having to download the entire game and/or a massive day one patch that may as well be the entire game.

I saw that trash crossover panel with Captain America and Wonder Woman. This is what we've come to. I'm going to be bold and say this is the natural conclusion to everyone pooping their pants and frothing at the mouth over Superman killing Zod in Man of Steel. You wanted this. You deserve this.

I saw Superman again, and my opinion on it really hasn't changed. If I were to sum up my thoughts in one wisp, is that it's a mediocre film with the most boring version of the character.

What on earth? This is terrible. It's over, it's all over. Movies had a good run, it's time to stop.

The first 20 minutes of Speed Racer is perfect filmmaking. It goes through a lot of exposition and character building in such a visually interesting way, and perfectly editing, that you get up to speed (heh) immediately.

Why is the conversation around this Superman film centered around the reactionary response and box office and not the actual contents of the film? That's all I see. Glad people enjoyed it, truly, but no need to bat for a multi-billion dollar production company making money. Or culture war nonsense.

Internet snark is good fun but the replies thinking it's serious media criticism is saddening.

I did not like the new Superman movie. I really do wish I saw the film the way the people who love it do but I couldn't get invested in anything that was going on due to how flat the characters are, the tonal whiplash and the blazing pace of it. Wasn't for me. As for the discourse:

I love Jesse's posts but Superman being forced to kill someone in a film adaptation was the most earth shattering pop-culture event that changed their lives forever. Adult equivalent of finding out Santa Clause isn't real.

I'm going to say it because every bit of footage I see just reminds me of it: This upcoming Superman film is the Thomas Kinkade painting of CBMs. The level of over-exposure in those shots lines right up with that guy's muck.

All this Superman talk is just putting me in the mood to watch Snyder's films again. Its been a hot minute. They're peak Superman and everything will be compared against them. They get better with each viewing, which isn't something I can say about other Superman films.

I hope all the "it'll bring great value to game pass!" people are happy. Even if you don't care about the people laid off, just know that game pass doesn't amount to anything if there isn't anyone making games for Microsoft to put on it. And if that's how you see it then you have no empathy.

I'm sure. I liked the first plenty but this movie is such in a weird, limbo state that I'm going to be skeptical of its release until I see candid pictures of location shots and actors in costume.

Watching Andor then immediately following it with A New Hope is the perfect Star Wars experience. I wasn't a fan of Rogue One, and the series didn't change that, but add that in there if you did like it. The victory in ANH hits a lot harder. Show's worthy in the pantheon with the OT and Prequels.

That Superman trailer was the most visually unappealing thing from any CBM made to date. Fantastic Four looks like a film Roger Deakins worked on. I want to believe but that trailer was awful and the footage itself was worse. I can't believe we gave this man Superman if this is the best he can do.

I think the prequels are great but I rarely push back against popular (and incorrect) talking points about George Lucas but seeing them getting critical re-evalutation is nice. A shame it took Disney flushing the IP down the toilet for this to happen. RLM did a lot of damage.
