If you're printing a comic with color, make sure to work in CMYK mode! I made the mistake of coloring in RGB and soon discovered some of the colors I used looked dull when converted for printing. Clip Studio now allows you to preview your work and color wheel in CMYK mode. It's so handy! 🎨

Highly recommend this book for any artist that wants to create comics/manga! It's called "All Faces" and includes 24,908 faces from One Piece panels. It's a great study tool to see character faces at different scales or as inspiration for expressions.

Epic the Musical has helped me get through the final stretch of inks! It's so gooood. 💙

I cannot stress enough how important it is to draw what you love when making a graphic novel. If you're making 100+ pages, might as well enjoy it. Even if you can't, incorporate things you love. For me, I've been watching a lot of chateau renovations so of course, one of my characters lives in one.

This scene I'm working on makes SketchUp worth the cost. Took me about 10 mins to set up and will save me a TON of time drawing chairs from different angles with this as a reference. 🪑

Getting into a habit of planning out the comic pages I'll ink for the week on Sunday. Things like planning out the locations by making 3D models, character outfits, weather, etc. Then the rest of the week, I draw the pages. It helps me focus on one step of the process at a time. 🖋️

Each outfit in my graphic novel tells a story. 🪡 One of my characters always wears the same jacket because it was a gift from someone special. Another has medical issues that changes the way they dress, while another sews parts of their outfits. A drastic outfit change could also say a lot.

One of the fun things about designing for VR is it's still really new in the gaming space, so there aren't a ton of references. It's been really fun exploring ways of balancing diagetic UI with more traditional 2D UI 🎮

Making a graphic novel as an author-illustrator truly feels like putting together a production. Not only am I the writer, but also the storyboard artist, director, producer, editor, cinematographer, costume designer, production designer, and more all at once. 🎬
