I’ve talked about Claudette Colvin many times, but her story was almost erased. She was a beautiful soul and unsung civil rights pioneer. At just 15, she refused to give up her seat on a segregated bus. This act of courage paved the way for the larger civil rights movement.

We can go forward or make it worse. New York is choosing to go forward. Children and families will be better because of it.
