SOAS DLD Dialogue: Sir Mo Ibrahim on African Economic Development Sir Mo Ibrahim, Founder and Chair of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, discusses economic development in Africa with SOAS DLD Co-Directors Christopher Cramer and Jonathan Di John. Sir Mo argued that Africa’s development challenges are primarily political and institutional rather than technical, and that many obstacles stem from internal governance failures, fragmentation, and conflict, alongside external factors such as declining aid and global economic uncertainty. He highlighted various strategic priorities for African governments and regional institutions aiming to create conditions for sustainable development, including peace and security, economic integration, collective market power, value chain development, structural reform, domestic resource mobilisation, and good governance. https://tinyurl.com/bdhxh2et
