For those doing any sort of semi-automated colour or theme management – any workflow recommendations? Fixed contrast ratios results in dull green/yellows, but something like HSLuv washes out the other colours. Any approach better than rough generation then manually nudging by eye from there?

Last week, we were treated to an extraordinary talk internally at @oxide.computer. It was at once an expository talk of a complicated software system and an experience talk of developing systems software in the large -- and it was far too good to keep to ourselves! oxide.computer/blog/systems...

Each year the @oxide.computer team comes together and meets at an internal conf. It's a good excuse to make something pretty. This year it's a coin, with a snapshot of our compute sled's PCB and modular logo.

Here's a technique I've used previously to implement noisy gradients at almost 1/10th of the file size (noise compresses very badly). Essentially splitting it into two layers; base blurry colour image, and a repeating noise image overlayed on top with a CSS blend mode. codesandbox.io/p/sandbox/wy...
