New semester. New you. What if this year, you leaned on the version of yourself that’s still figuring it out? This Courage Week, we celebrate Troye Sivan, an artist who turns fear into something fearless. His music dares us to follow our hearts, even when the path feels uncertain.

Today is Celebrate Bisexuality Day, an annual day of recognition of the accomplishments and history of bi+ people and the bi+ community. We affirm all bisexual people and, as Upstanders, do not tolerate any bullying, harassment, or discrimination based on sexual identity and attraction. 🩷💜💜

15 years ago, Tyler’s story shed light on the urgent need to address cyberbullying, and the importance of being an Upstander. This week, we honor his legacy with Before I Come In, an interactive storytelling project created in partnership with Ambrus Studio, now in the App Store and on Google Play!

On this day fifteen years ago, Tyler Clementi tragically died by suicide following severe cyberbullying by his roommate at Rutgers University. Let us honor Tyler’s memory by being Upstanders who lead with kindness, compassion, and respect for all people.

This bill will require colleges and universities to establish policies to prohibit harassment, including on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, to ensure that every student can feel safe at school regardless of who they are or who they love.

I'm joining @murray.senate.gov and @baldwin.senate.gov in reintroducing the Tyler Clementi Higher Education Anti-Harassment Act, along with the support of 70 of my colleagues in the House. It's been 15 years since we lost Tyler, but the fight to honor his life continues.

This week is National Suicide Prevention Week. Remember that you are loved, valued, and matter in this world. You're still here and you are strong. Offer yourself kindness, grace, and compassion. Even on the days when it feels impossible, you are wonderful.

September is #NationalSuicidePreventionMonth. #Upstanders take a stand to safely intervene all forms of bullying, including self-bullying and self-harm. If you know someone who is struggling, let them know you are there and that you love and care about them. Offer them support and seek out help.

This month, in preparation of the back to school season and all that comes with a new semester, the Tyler Clementi Foundation and LIVE OUT LOUD are coming together for Lyrical Liberation, a month-long celebration of music as a safe space for LGBTQ+ youth to express, explore, and empower.

Last month we had the joy of seeing the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington DC perform at Carnegie Hall during the 2025 In Harmony Concert. Their incredible voices remind us of the beauty and resilience of the LGBTQIA+ Community. 🌈

July is Black and Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) Mental Health Month! 🧠 💚 Racial and ethnic-based hate and bullying are some of the unique mental health challenges faced by people of color. As Upstanders, we strive to build communities where everyone feels supported, valued, and empowered.
