#AtoZofHIVArchives R is for Recreational Drugs One of the largest groups living with HIV in 1980s-90s were people who inject drugs in the UK. In Simon Garfield's book, The End of Innocence: Britain in the Time of AIDS, by the end of 1994, 2664 people had been diagnosed, making up 12% of cases.

#AtoZofHIVArchives N is for the National AIDS Helpline Telephone helplines played a vital role in providing information about #HIV in the 1980s-1990s. Many of the early helplines that developed from local gay organisations that had existing telephone counselling services.

#AtoZofHIVArchives M is for Mildmay Mildmay Mission Hospital based in Bethnal Green, London, in 1988 opened the first AIDS Hospice in Europe. The Mildmay continues to provide HIV care and last year was honoured with the naming of the London Overground line for its work during the AIDS crisis.
