The last gasp of satellite NOAA-15, sheduled to be decommissioned in about 2 hours. These old APT birds were some of the first activities that got me into radio, I'll miss them.

High-Altitude Balloon SSTV: Just finished decoding a load of images transmitted from a high-altitude balloon launched by Kopernik Observatory! I tracked it up to about 99,000ft before transmissions stopped, the images are so cool. Pictures of my receiving station here too.

The new Midnight Cleaners re-release came to my door today! I wasn't expecting this for another few weeks so it was a nice surprise.

Reception of an #SSTV image sent by satellite MONITOR-3 (RS58S) during it's morning pass over NY. Picked up in my front yard with a Yaesu FT5DR and long whip.

Here it is, the death song of a weather satellite. NOAA-18 in sending (and us receiving) mode to the very last moment before being turned off. It is now inert and classified as "space junk", but as we noted earlier today, many a meteorologist trained and worked from its data.🫡

Special cassette day. These old soviet cassettes are interesting and unique, but have been stored improperly over the last several years and the tape is no longer useable. I've been opening them up and replacing the tape with RTM C60 with much success! They are useable again!

Finally got all my certificates sorted so I can post the results of the recent ISS SSTV event! I stood outside with my HT for this one with pretty good results. #ARISS #SSTV

I planted the sunflower seeds sent to me last year by Stationmaster Mochii. They came all the way from Japan! I hope they grow to be very big.

Finally managed to spool on some extra-thin 0.5mil tape to these weird 2.5" reels (about 9 minutes per side). It's a Concord F-20 from the mid-60s. It sounds.. terrible, honestly. It was mainly meant for recording short audio letters. A fun novelty to use for music anyways..

Today I'm using the Toshiba KT-R2 Cassette Recorder. This one needed a new belt but is now in perfect condition. I just like the way this recorder looks. It's very chunky and early-80s. Seems perfect for bootlegging a concert or recording your garage band.

Just got my Fram2Ham certificate in the mail! I didn't end up getting too many good images, but it was fun to participate.
