It is unusually cold and icy in Germany since the beginning of the year. Yet I'm still baffled at the inability of most cities to clear sidewalks for people's safety for weeks now. I can't shake the feeling that something is different in the AI world over the last weeks. Feels like no gigantic hyped up shit has been going on, which makes me wonder if AI-Hype-companies (especially OpenAI) are running out of material or preparing an even bigger ugly bag of surreal marketing.

It imposes a tax on open collaboration. Which actually then tends to privilege existing power

You know what's cool? Discussing data scraping and related GDPR and TOS breaches. You know what's not cool? Going off the rails and insulting people who meant well and did a mistake. I would love to see some more constructive discussion than on that former bird site, but maybe that is my utopia.
