Well, here's some good news to start the weekend. Negotiating a treaty is one thing, but the work only starts once it's ratified and it looks as though the High Seas Treaty (aka BBNJ) will soon be up and running. This provides structure & standards & is a big step in protecting our ocean. 🎉🎉🌊

Over breakfast, I began to read 'Sink or Swim' - the excellent new book by @susannahfisher.bsky.social. I only read the prologue but I'm so excited. It's unpicking lots of the challenging questions that are at the heart of transformational adaptation, and the tradeoffs with incremental approaches.

Terribly sad and shocking news about the loss of Saleem Huq. A mentor to so many, always generous with his time, and unrelenting in his search for high ambition on climate action, adaptation finance and loss and damage. He saw through the noise to what was important. Thinking of his family today.
