It's better to encourage fellow conventions to reconsider their agreements with hotels when they are able to do so, IF they are able to do so as some conventions may have multi-year contracts and be legally locked into an agreement as well. Educate your fellow conventions, don't protest them too.

This applies to any contracted hotel, including overflows. Hotel agreements include a minimum hotel nights sold, any failure to sell x amount will mean the convention is liable to pay in the missing cost. This can easily be ~$50k or higher for some hotels.

If you're gonna protest Hilton siding with ICE, I highly suggest you guys do some mutual aid shit to keep your favorite fur cons from sinking because of breaches of contract. Sadly, a common part of convention contracts is getting butts in rooms (hence, room blocks at special rates).
