Am heading to the polls early tomorrow to cast my ballot in the Lethbridge City Council and Public School Trustee races. Folks I am voting for are progressive, come to the table with ideas and energy, and have worked hard to show their commitment to the community. Make sure you get out the vote.

We have to do better for our Seniors who are being hard-hit by the loneliness epidemic. Additional programs and supports will be required in the long-term to help Seniors remain a vital part of the Community.

The ability for folks to stay in their homes longer, and reduce dependence on resources, is directly tied to actions City Hall can take to encourage folks to Age in Place: keeping folks in the neighbourhoods that they have come to love over decades. This election, vote for change at City Hall.

Oct 8 - 20 vote for positive change in Lethbridge. My focus is on enhancing the every-day lives of citizens and continuing to build a community that works for everyone.

I wish a 3rd crossing was in the works in Lethbridge, but it will be a while yet for that project to be successful. We need actionable policies now to reduce traffic congestion and frustration in the City. Oct 8 - 20 vote for change!

The costs of traffic congestion in a city the size of #Lethbridge are astronomical for our local economy and society. As frustration over congestion continues to climb, it is important to recognize that decisions made a long time ago about our development are having a negative impact today.

We've spent decades building into the problem of traffic congestion in #Lethbridge, so there won't be a quick, easy, or inexpensive fix to the problem. However, there is a fix: encouraging folks out of their cars by having excellent public services and infrastructure. #YQL #elxn2025 #abpoli

Euclidean zoning codes popularized in the post-war suburban experiment mean most residents cannot access healthcare where they live in the city and have to travel to find non-emergency access. This adds an additional burden to access for care, and, frankly, it sucks. Vote Oct 8 - 20 for new ideas.

"Healthcare is a provincial issue" when trying to attract doctors to your city misses so much that Council can do to help prepare the city to welcome more doctors: like zoning more clinic space, making improvement grants available to existing clinics, setting aside city-owned space for clinic.

We were informed our family doc was no longer going to practice at the same appointment they confirmed my pregnancy, and we've been without a family doc since. We can do better, and a fresh City Council brings new perspectives to problems passed up by previous councils. Vote Oct 8 - 20 for change.

Another fun fact about me: I'm a Senior! Or at least, I'm a member of the Lethbridge Senior Citizen's Organization (you can become one at 35, and it's about $90/year!) I'll be renewing my membership next month, and can't wait for another great year with the LSCO!

We fund public pools + swimming programs in an effort to reduce the number of drowning deaths. These are among the public services cities have prioritized over the decades in order to provide better quality of life for citizens, and ensure folks enjoying a day out don't experience tragedy.

This issue is about the survival of everyone and all industries downstream of the headwaters - We cannot afford the risk to our ag and other local industries.

The updated Parks master plan enhances our parks through use of native grasses and more localized water retention to reduce the need to irrigate. By reducing our need to irrigate our public spaces (which uses treated drinking water), we can ease pressures on our aging infrastructure and save money.

We live in a semi-arid desert with drought and flood cycles and to date we've been pretty unresponsive to environmental pressures. As a city we can explore new programs and incentivize changes in behaviour that will reduce our impact on the environment and save our citizens money.

It's water week in my campaign and as an avid user of our public spaces I can't recall how many times I've wished for a public drinking fountain! Relying on businesses to refill water bottles (look for the Blue W program!) means there's only publicly available water when businesses are open.

This plan already exists, it just needs political will to move it forward. As a daily biker of 13th St, it's pretty harrowing sometimes, especially when drivers get aggressive.

For almost 10 years I've been largely ignoring the minimum parking requirements at my business. I know, bad Kelti. However, because we don't use our lot for parking, we're able to host so many more people, outdoor music shows, and events! Minimum Parking Requirements rob local business owners.

As a former member of the municipal planning commission and a massive nerd about municipal design/social connectivity, it's time Lethbridge realize that mixed density neighbourhoods with access to small, local commercial should be prioritized across the city to reduce traffic, collisions, and cost.

I love living in my post-war-era neighbourhood. Grid-pattern streets means hyper-connectivity and efficient travel. Smaller houses on larger plots means lots of huge mature trees. Can't beat it!

Am listening to Lethbridge City Council meeting from this afternoon and am having a great chortle about how long some city councillors are admitting to sitting on council surrounding an orientation package motion. I am glad they are being so pro-active about orienting new people post-election.

Community development that enhances interpersonal connections is a more sustainable and successful community. It's remarkable how deep the effects of decades of policy can go in shaping our social cohesion.

It’s always pretty interesting to have some folks try hard to dispute car dependency by describing their conditions that suggest that driving is the obvious choice and other options are non-viable, thereby pretty much describing car dependency, without seeming to get the irony of that.

There’s advert that keeps popping up on YouTube that’s annoying me to no end. It goes ‘my sister reads books but I can’t afford to buy her two books a week, that’s why I love this [book shop]’ THE LIBRARY. GO TO THE LIBRARY. The L I B R A R Y. Having fun isn’t hard when you’ve got a LIBRARY CARD!!!

Housing is the responsibility of governments at all levels to work together to get it built. We shouldn't be falling short by 50% when SO MUCH is needed in our communities. By having shovel-ready projects/ zoning reforms, Alberta communities can more readily take advantage of funding opportunities.

This week I'm all about the Land Use Bylaw! This massive document that governs how the city is laid out and functions has been undergoing a significant (and desperately needed!) update and is still in the consultation phase! The next City Council will be responsible for passing it! Have your say!
