Spotify Wrapped? Never heard of it. But I do have a "Bandcamp Wrapped"! This is a new thing Bandcamp did this year. From the Bandcamp homepage, click "Your Holiday Guide" and then "Your year in music".

New release! (sort of) Xento's Realm, created with Beaterator for the Sony PSP, is up on SoundCloud. It won't be going to streaming platforms, it doesn't quite the mustard for that. But I thought it was still interesting enough to be worth sharing! soundcloud.com/primaryphase...

Just putting the finishing touches on this little handheld music production experiment with Beaterator! I pulled the exported WAV from my Vita into my DAW just to get it to normal levels, but that’s it. I want to preserve the sound that came out of Beaterator as much as possible.

Here’s something you might not have heard of: Beaterator for the Sony PSP! It’s not quite a full DAW, but for something designed for a 20-year-old handheld game console, it comes surprisingly close. Should I post what I’m making with it?

I think the weirdest thing about making music for me is thinking about my previous projects and (mostly) not really understanding how I did it. Like where did the ideas come from? It feels like it was just a bunch of happy accidents, and maybe I won't be so lucky next time.

Going through some old stuff and found a DAT tape of my projects from audio production school 20 years ago! Now to find a DAT machine that can play it…🤔

As a music producer, there is absolutely nothing wrong with using presets; they generally sound great and can let you lay down an idea quickly. But if there is a particular type of sound you are looking for, you may be looking for a long time, and that gets in the way of your creative momentum.

How I made the bleeps & bloops for "Purpose Of The Machine" from the album "Echoes Of The Mechatronic Age". It's made up of two synth sounds. I programmed a series of patterns in the Matrix sequencer and automated it to switch each of the sounds to different patterns at different points.

Singer-songwriters: how do you come up with hooky vocals? I have no problem writing nice little instrumental lines, but when I try to imagine them as a vocal, it seems like it would fall flat. When I hear a good vocal melody, I’m amazed that someone was able to come up with that. How do you do it??
