I want to talk about burnout. This has been in the news as a fellow MP, the Green Party’s Carla Denyer, has announced she is taking time recover from burnout. I’ve been intrigued by some of the negative backlash. I wanted to write my own reflections on burnout, and the backlash, on my Substack:

Always a fab event & huge congratulations to the Army for triumphing in the Women's match and to the Navy for winning in the Men's. I was shocked and saddened to hear of the awful attack on two members of the Jewish community in Golders Green yesterday. We must stand together with the Jewish community in the face of this tragedy - antisemitism has no place in our society. My thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones.

Today is International Workers' Memorial Day, a day where we remember those who have sadly died at work. Thousands of people are injured or killed at work every year in the UK. This needs to change - that's why we're reviewing health and safety guidance to reflect modern workplaces.

Yesterday I was at the Tower for the Ceremony of the Dues!🏰 This tradition dates all the way back to 1381. It was extra special as a cadet unit presented the roundlet for the first time. Cadets are a key part of my role as Minister for Veterans and People, and they did an excellent job.

This is appalling to read. It shows why tackling this issue is so crucial- *every child* deserves a chance at life.

Took a walk through Victoria Embankment Gardens on my way into Parliament this morning🌷 This afternoon we're debating amendments on the Crime and Policing Bill, as well as the Victims and Court Bills - two pieces of legislation that will make a real difference in how we tackle crime.

Martin Lewis was absolutely right to campaign so hard on this! I am really proud that we're taking action against aggressive and intimidatory enforcement tactics, and moving towards a system that recognises families that are struggling and offers support.

Back in Westminster after recess and ready to get to work! Lots of important bills are underway and we have launched two new free breakfast clubs in our constituency. Now 756 kids in North East Derbyshire will benefit. I'm incredibly proud of this scheme to support families in our community 🫶

These are vital areas of the wider Service Justice System and offer victim-centred and trauma-informed work.

I am deeply saddened by the death of Captain Philip Gilbert Muldowney of 4th Regiment Royal Artillery, who died on Sunday following an incident during live fire training. He was clearly an exceptional young man & outstanding officer & I know his unit, family and friends are devastated by his loss.
