Member of Parliament for North East Derbyshire & Minister for Veterans and People
Back in Westminster after recess and ready to get to work! Lots of important bills are underway and we have launched two new free breakfast clubs in our constituency. Now 756 kids in North East Derbyshire will benefit. I'm incredibly proud of this scheme to support families in our community 🫶

The Telegraph just gave a convicted criminal a two-page spread to explain why he's pumping £4 million into Reform UK. They tucked his criminal record away in the small print. So as a former financial crime specialist I’ll do their job for them👇

It was great to be at Southwick Park with my colleagues Jess Phillips and Alex Davies Jones to see the incredible work that the Defence Serious Crime Command and Victim Witness Care Unit do. These are vital areas of the wider Service Justice System and offer victim-centred and trauma-informed work.

Yesterday, UNISON Derbyshire and the care team from The Grange in Eckington came to Westminster. Thank you to the Minister for Care, Stephen Kinnock, for meeting us to discuss the closure of this beloved care home. I appreciate him taking the time to speak to the staff and express his support.

Thank you to everyone who came to the Save The Grange Rally. If DCC pushes ahead, the impact on residents and our community will be severe. We will not let this vital service be lost. Also disappointing that the Reform Cllr for Eckington failed to attend - vulnerable people deserve better.

My fellow Derbyshire MP, Natalie Fleet puts it brilliantly. Online abuse has become an unfortunate symptom of being an MP. It is threats like this that dissuade brilliant individuals from standing in politics. It is shameful that Reform UK are refusing to take action against this behaviour.

How is it that a church warden behind an interior design firm originally incorporated in the BVIs & tied to a Kazakh billionaire can make a £200,000 donation to Reform UK? Source of funds not disclosed. Farage has questions to answer. The Electoral Commission must investigate.

I am deeply saddened by the death of Captain Philip Gilbert Muldowney of 4th Regiment Royal Artillery, who died on Sunday following an incident during live fire training. He was clearly an exceptional young man & outstanding officer & I know his unit, family and friends are devastated by his loss.

Today we mark Holocaust Memorial Day. We remember the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered during the Holocaust, and the millions more murdered under Nazi persecution. We also remember where persecution led in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

NATO Article V has been triggered only once: by the US after 9/11. When our ally called, we in the UK didn't hesitate to stand with them. 636 British men & women paid the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq and Afghanistan, with many more living with their injuries today.

A question the Tories are avoiding: Should Abramovich’s money from the Chelsea sale go to Ukraine? Their silence would be shocking, if you didn’t know their Shadow Attorney General was also Roman Abramovich’s lawyer! My piece with @elliereeves

Scroll your phone and you’ll see a London of fear and decline. Walk its streets and you’ll find a city where difference is a strength and communities look out for one another. The reality will outlast the fiction.

Wages not based on ages has long been GMB's mantra. You don't pay less rent if you're young. Your food bill isn't lower. Today's news that an end is coming to age-bands in minimum wage laws is massive. This government listens to workers. And acts.
