Member of Parliament for North East Derbyshire & Minister for Veterans and People
I want to talk about burnout. This has been in the news as a fellow MP, the Green Party’s Carla Denyer, has announced she is taking time recover from burnout. I’ve been intrigued by some of the negative backlash. I wanted to write my own reflections on burnout, and the backlash, on my Substack:

Very interesting to see a party allegedly concerned about the safety of women advocating for the removal of their bodily autonomy.👇 I’m so proud of this government’s work on reproductive rights, something that we will always fight to protect.

I just want to highlight this incredible action by our amazing armed forces. Flying across thousands of miles of ocean before jumping out of a plane onto a tiny island, all to deliver medical support to a community in need, is the stuff of movies. I'm so so proud 👏👏👏

So wonderful to attend the annual Army v Navy rugby match at Twickenham today! Always a fab event & huge congratulations to the Army for triumphing in the Women's match and to the Navy for winning in the Men's. All teams played with huge heart - so proud of them and of our wonderful Armed Forces! 🇬🇧

I was shocked and saddened to hear of the awful attack on two members of the Jewish community in Golders Green yesterday. We must stand together with the Jewish community in the face of this tragedy - antisemitism has no place in our society. My thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones.

Today is International Workers' Memorial Day, a day where we remember those who have sadly died at work. Thousands of people are injured or killed at work every year in the UK. This needs to change - that's why we're reviewing health and safety guidance to reflect modern workplaces.

Yesterday I was at the Tower for the Ceremony of the Dues!🏰 This tradition dates all the way back to 1381. It was extra special as a cadet unit presented the roundlet for the first time. Cadets are a key part of my role as Minister for Veterans and People, and they did an excellent job.

Wages not based on ages has long been GMB's mantra. You don't pay less rent if you're young. Your food bill isn't lower. Today's news that an end is coming to age-bands in minimum wage laws is massive. This government listens to workers. And acts.
