The Cave Nebula (Sh 2-155) is a diffuse nebula in Cepheus within a larger cloud complex of various nebula types. Two nights of broadband followed by HaOIII data revealed dusty, reflective and emissive features surrounding the nebula in strong contrast with each other.

I love how easy it is to spot Polaris B even through small-ish refractors. In this 5-sec snapshot during polar alignment you can visually count the pixels to gauge separation from its bigger brother. ~10 pixels, which is exactly ~18-19" given a pixel scale of 1.85"/px😄

The Crescent Nebula is a popular DSO in Cygnus, known for its distinctive appearance embedded within the Swan's rich nebulosity. The 103APO combined with small pixels on the MiniCAM8 revealed nice details in the gas shells. Modified HOO + a little SII, ~4.5 h exposure

The Veil Nebula, Pickering's Triangle and nearby nebulosity formed the western part of the Cygus Loop (Sh2-103) - an expansive supernova remnant ~2500 ly away that remembers the distant death of a massive star. 10 hours of Ha/OIII data captured on the Askar 103APO

As part of learning PixInsight, I decided to revisit M33, the Triangulum Galaxy, and experiment with continuum subtraction on some OSC Ha data from a new setup around the Askar 103APO scope.

The Sadr Region - a nebulous region at the heart of Cygnus the Swan. The Crescent Nebula swims over sprawling hydrogen-alpha clouds of the Sadr Region like a cosmic jellyfish.

Since the

lander uses very wide angle fisheye lenses, I was able to make a partial 360° panorama from the image. This gives a slightly better sense of scale and direction.

Around 5.5 hours of broadband data from last night, thinking about adding some additional Ha data when the sky clears up again.

‘tis the season to repost my shot of the Ghost of Cassiopeia 👻, a reflection and emission nebula about 550 light years away. Shot this about a year ago from my back yard in central Virginia. Spooky, eh?
