Essential to meet representatives of the EU Wind Industry. We touched upon enhancing the clean transition, driving down energy prices for consumers, the carbon border adjustment mechanism, unfair competition and the need for more speed of delivery and shorter permitting periods.

As always, great to exchange with 🇬🇧Ed Miliband. We had an excellent conversation on COP30 preparations and on collaboration between the UK and the EU on climate action and carbon pricing.

Uplifting to listen to President @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu's vision for Europe’s future during this morning’s #SOTEU 2025. Big focus on unity, security and defence and economic resilience and competitiveness. The EU needs to unite to tackle global challenges in this fractured global landscape.

COP30 President André do Lago and I took stock of recent developments as preparations for the COP intensify. We have important priorities, such as submitting good new NDCs, developing adaptation indicators and highlighting effective policy approaches like carbon pricing at COP30.

Great meeting with ASEAN Business Council reps — delighted to meet with European companies who want to be true allies in global decarbonisation. We discussed carbon pricing, regulatory support for corporate climate efforts, and the need for simplification.

Good to meet with Raphael Lotilla, 🇵🇭 Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources. We exchanged on all facets of the green transition and in particular how to speed up electrification and ensure affordability of energy for all. We want to deepen our cooperation on carbon pricing.

Always good to catch up with 🇯🇵 Minister of the Environment Keiichiro Asao. We had an excellent collaboration at COP29 and are truly like-minded partners. We will continue advocating for the importance of strong and effective new national plans (NDCs) from all countries.

Very good meeting with Secretary General H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn ahead the EU-ASEAN Ministerial in Malaysia. We discussed our almost 50 years of bilateral relations and concrete cooperation on carbon pricing and #COP30.

Very good meeting with H.E Vice-President of Malawi 🇲🇼 Michael Usi. At COP29, we had a new goal for climate finance. We now need to implement it, and finance what has real socio-economic impacts on the ground. Each country is different and it needs to be reflected.

Excellent discussion with Minister for Finance Ryan Straughn of 🇧🇧 Barbados. Barbados is a true climate frontrunner. They are doing a great job and home, and inspire others. We are aligned on the importance of ambitious climate action, climate resilience and climate finance.

Important conversation with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Tuvalu 🇹🇻, Panapasi Nelesoni. We discussed COP30 and climate finance. On top of public financing, unleashing private financing is key. Financing also needs to go to the most vulnerable.

Today, I spoke at Forum Europa’s Breakfast event on the tough geopolitical environment, the Clean Industrial Deal and how the EU can come out on top. We need to make this transition work for backbone of our societies, the middle class.

Good to liaise with 🇨🇳H.E. Minister Huang Runqiu in 🇫🇷. We had an insightful conversation on the importance of ambitious NDCs for COP30 for the EU and for China. We also discussed the need to phase out fossil fuels and particularly coal, as well as the preparations for COP30.
