"Like I SAID" Northeast of Calgary 20250418T0520Z At the end of the first substorm a SAID aka STEVE formed and stayed visible for about 30-40 minutes. It was difficult to make out with the eye, so I set my camera's to ISO 5000, F2.8, 13-15 seconds. There was no Picket Fence that I could see.

"The Glass Slippers" Northeast of Calgary 20250418T0420Z It took awhile for the charge to build but when the substorm hit it was a beautiful sight to behold. This was a night where the pond was as still as a reflection in a mirror, and I was fortunate enough to be able to capture the aurora.

It appears that the culprit behind the Northward trend in the BZ is a CIR From Coronal Hole 35. Notice the rise in density and the drop in the solar wind speed usually indicative of a CIR

The origin of pulsating auroras (PsAs) remains an unresolved problem in the field of aurora physics, and it' unusual to see it during the enhancement phase of the aurora, it is typically confined to the recovery phase.
