The runup to the Civil War had both sides passionate about their slavery positions. In the 2024 election, Trump was passionate that illegals were evil and, with only a luke warm opposing view, Trump's view took hold. A passionate opposing view may have balanced that a bit.

US cannot let the "new normal" be that Putin can recruit 10s of 1000s NK soldiers to help win his wars. This would give him unlimited fresh troops to pursue multiple fronts including NATO countries. Only showing strength can stop this new normal. Rs are pathetically weak in not seeing this.

Trump has never been a successful operator and was not tested his first term. His cabinet choices are totally inexperienced. Worse decisions are based on "will people like him?". All this points to spectacular term 2 failures.
