Asked my SIL, a Mormon in MI, how she's doing today. She said that she has compartmentalized it. And other shootings yesterday, so just another one in the many. This is one of the saddest conversations I've had. Not just because something terrible happened yesterday, but that it's so commonplace.

Two men found hanging from trees in Mississippi this week, HBCUs were targeted with violence, and a man on TV said that homeless people should be euthanized. The violence and violent rhetoric in this country is out of control. The racial violence even more so. I have no solutions just sadness

Just so we are clear, not only was slavery bad, it was horrifyingly heinous. When I was a kid I thought it was just people working in a farm, I think so people don't move on from this idea. It was so so so much worse than that.
