Apparently fidgeting, pacing, stretching, and trampoline-jumping are all filed under the same category in my brain: ✨ “Focus strategies.” ✨ Do you feel calmer with little micro-moves or do you need the big energy resets?

Unfinished tasks look messy from the outside. Inside your brain? It’s just mid-orchestra, tuning between songs. For ADHD brains, task switching isn’t a graceful gear shift. It’s more like trying to change lanes with the parking brake on. Here’s the thing: that’s not failure. That’s wiring.

Task-switching shouldn’t be so hard…should it? Reality is that task-switching on the adhd i-os is not just harder than for a neuro-normie brain, it’s neurologically demanding. It asks your brain to stop one focus mode and start another.

People think ADHD means “you can’t focus.” But plenty of us can focus for 8 hours on the wrong thing, cry because our sock seam betrayed us, and still have no idea what we’re feeling. ADHD is a regulation disorder, not a focus failure.

Got a question for you… does most of the world see impulsivity as a moral failure? The research says, at least for adhd-ers that it's a brain-based response to a system that thrives on "Now" and struggles with "Later."

Hyperfocus, or hyperfixation, happens a lot when you’re ADHD. It’s what happens when your brain grabs onto a topic and just won’t let it go. The bonus? Huge dopamine drops, like huge. Bigger than you ordinarily receive. And the draw backs? Well… Sometimes you forget to eat.

The minds can’t agree… Or… Really.. Hold a conversation some days. But that’s ok, sometimes the ADHD just ADHDs a little harder. If you’re feeling like a potato today, give yourself permission to just rest and feel like a potato!

Urgency in the ADHD brain is a tricky thing: without urgency it feels like nothing gets done, but urgency itself feels like the whole world is about to crash down. So where’s that middle ground? How do Neuronormies get there? And is it possible for the ADHD brain?  Absolutely! Here’s how…

Have you ever wondered how on EARTH someone can just…sit there!?  Neuronormie and Neurodifferent brains process boredom VERY differently. For a neuronormie brain, it’s nbd.  For the adhd i-os…it’s not just uncomfortable, it can feel unbearable.

Ever get so locked in you forget to eat… or breathe? That’s hyperfocus and while many times we view it as a “superpower” of the adhd internal operating system, sometimes, it’s also a problem!  That productivity “superpower,” unmanaged, can become a burnout trap!

Me: “I just want to try knitting. For fun.” Also me, 9 hours later: I’ve deep-dived Norwegian sock patterns, ordered hand-dyed alpaca yarn from a woman named Birgit, and joined three Reddit threads about medieval fiber tension.

Trying to form habits with ADHD is like.. Well.. No. Even when you know it’s great for you, helpful in managing ADHD, and super powerful. So don’t feel bad when it takes you a year to integrate a habit, take the wins and keep going! You’re not broken, just different 😉

“Hold on, but when I’m under stress I perform really well!” We get it, that’s a common experience for ADHDers in the short term. But what about long-term stress?

Is stress stealing your focus? If you’ve got ADHD… probably 😫 Unhelpfully, cortisol (your body’s stress hormone) often quietly sabotages the adhd brain.  Too little cortisol = foggy, unmotivated Too much cortisol = scattered, impulsive

Sometimes overstimulation can get the better of us, and our squirrely sides can end up bouncing off the walls! (These are called Skitter days in our office now)

“I didn’t get it done, clearly I just don’t care about it.” If you’ve ever thought that, this video is for you! The fact is, ADHD brains suffer from a lack of norepinephrine (or noradrenaline, if you want to use its other name).

Why is decision-making SO HARD sometimes?! If you have ADHD, it’s not just in your head (well, it is, but you know what we mean). Your brain’s Default Mode Network (DMN) has a habit of hijacking your focus at the worst times -- leading to impulsive YESes or never-ending research spirals.

Your brain isn’t broken. It’s broadcasting on a different frequency. ADHD brains often show higher theta wave activity (daydreamy, drowsy) and lower beta wave activity (focused, alert).

Struggling to just… get.. it.. Done?  You’re not alone! Motivation is a huge battle for everyone running the adhd i-os, and it’s because the chemicals in the ADHD brain aren’t operating the same as a neuronormal brain.

You ever stare at a task for so long it starts to feel like you did it? Like… emotionally, you already showed up. Mentally, you walked through every step. Physically? Still in the chair. Task untouched.

Ever sit down to work and feel… absolutely nothing?  No urgency. No energy. No focus. Just meh. That might be a norepinephrine issue.
