This is the very heart of why anyone follows Jesus. We all do things wrong. We may tell ourselves, “I’m basically a good guy,” but secretly we know. We all go off course. Jesus came to set all of that right. That’s why he matters. That’s why he changed the world.

I’m sure most of the men out there can imagine discovering that your bride to be was pregnant, and you *know* it’s not yours, and her saying, “No, no, you don’t understand, it’s by the Holy Spirit.” But Joseph trusted God, and that’s what makes him a hero to many believing men.

This is a thing I love about Mary. She’s been told she’s about to give birth despite being a virgin, the child will be the son of God, and more, she knows what the laws of her time say happens to an unwed mother. And what does she say? Yes sir. May I be like her.

I know that I often think, “If only God would make it crystal clear, I’d be fine.” But with Mary, He did exactly that, and she was still troubled. The lesson I take away? It’s OK to be afraid. God can still do amazing things with you.
