I've been thinking a lot about these two games and why they both mean so much to me. A lot of contemporary games are dark and brooding. But OT2 and #Metaphor are injected with this uplifting optimism that makes them shine. They deal with very dark themes, but approach them with a sense of hope.

I think it's cool that #Metaphor is as challenging as it is. I occasionally like getting my ass kicked and having to rethink and learn from my mistakes. I feel like I end up getting more invested in a game when I'm not simply skating thru.

The power to imagine a better world is the most powerful force and thusly the power most immediately targeted by authoritarians. You cannot build what you cannot dream, and it was stunning to me that the best big-picture political commentary of this election season was actually found in this game.
