Before Round 7, we paused to IM Adam Hunt, who sadly passed in Dec 2024. A brilliant player, coach & author, Adam inspired countless young talents. He was awarded the ECF President’s Award for Services to Chess, accepted on his behalf by his sister IM Harriet Hunt.

With Shreyas and Gawain scoring wins on the top boards, Michael Adams now sits clear at the top with only three rounds to go! Just half a point behind him are 10 players, ready to pounce in what promises to be a thrilling finish. It’s all still to play for — join us live at 2:30!

In the U16 section Emma Kong and Naavya Parikh played a 109-move thriller that ended in a draw. Emma had pawns vs none in a queen endgame but couldn’t escape Naavya’s checks! Both girls are challenging to become the champion, so played for nearly 5 hours! Main event is now on!
