So this happened less than a foot away from me this morning. I can’t decide if the soundtrack should be Mortal Kombat or Let’s Get It On.

There was a total lunar eclipse the other day. I was very excited to see it and potentially get a few photos. Unfortunately, because there was an interesting astronomical event, NJ weather obliged as it usually does.

Still haven't gotten the rig outside. Here's an image I did of NGC 3718. It's a rather interesting galaxy, reminiscent of Centauras A. Just over 17 hours LRGB with my 8" EdgeHD and 294MM Pro.

No new photons of my own. However,

This is a target I go back to nearly every winter. Bode's Galaxy (M81) shot with my 8" EdgeHD, 294MM Pro and Chroma LRGB filters. To the left is Holmberg IX. This is about 16.5 hours taken over a few nights in February of 2023.

Ugh. 2024 can’t end soon enough. My mother passed away on Sunday. Today I was informed by the company I’ve worked with for the past 5 years that there just wasn’t anything in the pipeline for me in 2025 and they were terminating my contract. So, now I’m looking for work.

in 2022. Image is composed of the best 25% from each of 5x90" SER files. Stacked in AS!3, wavelets in R6 and de-rotation in WinJUPOS. 8" EdgeHD with a 2x Televue Barlow and 662MC.

Here is one of the very first deep sky images I took. No fancy telescope or mount or filters. Just my Panasonic Lumix G9 with a Leica 50-200 f/2.8-4 zoom lens on a Sky Watcher Star Adventurer back in 2020. 4.5 hours of data.

Day 11 of the 2024 Space Telescope Advent Calendar - Gazing Deeply Through Time. Using the JWST, astronomers detected massive star clusters in the Cosmic Gems arc, a strongly-lensed galaxy emitting light from when the Universe was roughly 460 million years old.

For those who aren’t rope droppers, the new multi-pass at
#WDW
is terrible. Multi-tiered system where you have to pick rides 7 days out. The old system was much better.

So I rented a Tesla Model 3 for the week. After driving it for 4 days, I’m not impressed. Lots of road noise. Rather uncomfortable ride all around. Guess I had higher expectations for it. Definitely a lot of cool tech in it, though. Too many bells and whistles at the expense of substance.

I’m not always pointing a camera and scope up to the skies. Sometimes I like to enjoy a bit of magic right here on this blue marble we call home. Today I got to try a little bit of culinary magic. These are called cheeseburger pods and are available at Satu’li Canteen at Animal Kingdom. So good!
